Every engineer knows the hardest part of any project is naming things. Devices are no exception.
I’ve found that combining Japanese words with leetspeak makes for surprisingly good hostnames. The Japanese gives each name meaning, while the character substitutions keep things short and memorable. A black laptop becomes “kur0” (from kuro, meaning black), and suddenly naming devices feels less arbitrary.
